"Right Faith in God and Right Confidence in Yourself is the way to Live a Life"

Sri Samayapuram Mariyamma Temple

The scriptures have described the Divine mother as the creator of the universe and all the life forces. She is the supreme leader who supports the very existence of the universe by creating Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, who under her command, perform the cosmic duties. One of the most powerful forms of the supreme mother is that of Durga, a fierce form, emanating from the vital powers of all Gods. She destroyed Mahishasura after a nine day battle and this form of ferocity, the very existence of all the three worlds, was threatened. The gods trembled and prayed for her to calm down. The Goddess covered herself with flowers and undertook penance on the banks of river Cauvery, for twenty eight days, in a place called Samayapuram. This fast was taken up for the benefit of mankind and in this form she assimilated the powers of 27 Stars (in the constellation) and the Navagrahas (the Nine Planets), emerging as SRI SAMAYAPURAM MARIAMMAN, an all-powerful but calm form, benevolent and merciful to all.

She is depicted in a form that dazzles with the brilliance of a thousand suns, a diamond band on her head, golden hair, garlanded with fragrant flowers, covered with glittering jewelry and blessing her children with 'Ashta Bhujam' (eight hands).

Under the guidance of our Guru, His Holiness Swami Sri Sureshwara Acharya, the Sri Samayapuram Mariamman Temple Trust has embarked on an auspicious mission of building a temple for the all-powerful mother, SRI SAMAYAPURAM MARIAMMAN, in Srirangapatna (near Mysore), Mandya

The proposed temple at Srirangapatna, would be a magnificent structure dedicated to the all powerful but benevolent and mother like form of Shakthi, Sri Samayapuram Mariamman. The place chosen for this proposed temple is very

unique; just the way the Goddess found her place in Samayapuram, Trichy, to carry out her penance, she chose for herself a similar site on the banks of the holy river Cauvery, in Srirangapatna.

The entire temple will be constructed as per Aghama Shasthra, by renowned Sthapathi's and leading architects. The beautifully carved, stone structured inner temple complex, would be like temples, as constructed in the past. There will be five Gopurams with t he Rajagopuram, a nine storied structure, being the tallest, rising 108 Ft above the ground, making it the tallest tower in that vicinity. The Temple complex and surrounding structures will be constructed to cater to various spiritual and social service activities, which would benefit the needy and uplift society.

By joining hands with us in our mission to build this magnificent temple, you will be part of a noble deed. This temple will stand for many hundreds of years and our future generations will be blessed. We request one and all to contribute generously in the making of this magnificent temple.
